Travel vaccines and medicines
How we can help
Planning an overseas trip - whether for work, visiting family, a long-awaited holiday, or another activity requires careful preparation.
At our Local Doctors, White Cross Urgent Care and GP clinics, including Glenfield, New Lynn, Lunn Ave, and Northmed, you can book an appointment to receive expert travel advice and all the necessary vaccines for your journey.
Our team is here to help you manage pre-existing medical conditions, understand medical risks in specific countries, and provide essential travel safety advice, including areas to avoid due to conflict.
Understanding the health risks in the countries you’re visiting is crucial for staying safe, preventing illness, and ensuring a healthy and enjoyable trip.
Vaccination
Note: Yellow Fever vaccines are available by appointment only at White Cross Lunn Ave and CityMed Medical Centre.
The yellow fever virus is a serious mosquito-borne disease found in parts of Africa and Central/South America. Vaccination is essential for protection, preventing outbreaks, and meeting travel requirements for certain countries. A single dose provides lifelong immunity, and it’s recommended at least 10 days before travel to at-risk areas.
We recommend the following steps for patients who wish to get their Yellow Fever vaccine:
White Cross Lunn Ave Urgent care & GP clinic
- Download and fill out our travel vaccine questionnaire, which is available here.
- Email the completed form to us at reception@tamakihealth.co.nz and request a 30 minute appointment with Dr. Selim, available on Wednesdays only.
- If you prefer, call us at 09 570 8899.
- During your consultation, Dr. Selim will review your needs and let you know which vaccines are required.
We'll order the vaccines, and once they arrive, you can book a follow-up with our Practice Nurse to get them administered
CItyMed Medical Centre
- Patients are usually given a travel questionnaire upon arrival.
- If you’d rather fill it out ahead of time, just email reception@citymed.co.nz to request a copy or give them a call at 09 377 5525.
- Appointments are scheduled for 30-45 minutes, followed by a 30-minute nurse appointment for the injection.
Yellow Fever doctors are available onsite five days a week, and vaccines are stocked onsite, so they can be administered on the same day without delays.
